Saudi Arabia’s Arbitration Overhaul

Gustavo Moser curated and oversaw an analysis for LexisNexis Arbitration UK, authored by Dr Waleed Altuwaigri, international arbitrator, mediator and Professor of ADR and International Commercial Law at the Higher Judicial Institute in Riyadh, on Saudi Arabia’s recent consultation by the National Competitiveness Center (NCC) concerning a new arbitration system. The public consultation, which ran from 24 September to 24 October 2025, formed part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reforms, aimed at modernising and internationalising its dispute resolution framework. The draft nine-chapter law covers arbitration agreements, tribunal composition, procedures, awards and enforcement, seeking to enhance transparency, efficiency and party autonomy while strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a global commercial hub.
