Launch of the Baku Arbitration Centre

The Baku Arbitration Centre (BAC) was formally inaugurated in Baku on 24–25 October 2025 during the Azerbaijan Arbitration Days Days conference, marking the establishment of the country’s first arbitral institution.

The launch of the BAC forms part of Azerbaijan’s wider justice-sector modernisation programme and reflects the government’s broader commitment to aligning national legislation with international standards. The Law on International Arbitration, adopted on 26 December 2023 and in force since 25 January 2024, provides the legislative foundation for this reform. It introduces a modern arbitration framework alongside reforms aimed at codifying enforcement proceedings and enhancing efficiency, creditor protection, and legal certainty.

Gustavo Moser invited  Professor Dr. Kamalia Mehtiyeva, President of the BAC and the Azerbaijan Arbitration Association, to discuss the Centre’s vision and priorities for LexisNexis Arbitration UK.
